The Thomson-East Coast Line has been opening in stages over several years, gradually extending north-south and toward the east coast.
What opened
Each new stage adds stations along the corridor, improving direct connections that previously required a transfer through the city centre.
What it means for visitors
Newer stages generally shorten East Coast and Marine Parade journeys, making Katong and the eastern beaches a faster MRT ride than they were on the older network.
